The Whiting Brothers built-up chain of gas stations and motels in the Southwest that spanned Route 66 from Shamrock in Texas to Lenwood in California.
They owned over 100 stations and 32 were located on Route 66. The ruins of some can still be seen, and one is still open and operating in Moriarty New Mexico.
