We the People Park
This park features an extensive collection of outdoor sculptures anchored by the largest piece, the "We the People" sculpture, a 110 foot semi-circular wall of figures inspired by the community. This piece was designed by Armando Alvarez. The guitar sculpture named "Rosebud", by local artist Jack Tixier, within the park is a 7' tribute to Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. It resembles his iconic guitar of the same name and bears an etching of a skeleton holding a rose, similar to the art on Jerry Garcia's guitar. The tone and volume controlls are brass munition shells and the frets are made out of titanium and reflect rainbows in sunlight. The "Pulling Pay Dirt" sculpture is an homage to Gallup's mining history. The park also includes a unique 'Rock Garden' sculpture. A 1/4 mile walking track also surrounds the sculptures.
