Gallup is home to some of the best rodeo events in the southwest, hosted in the most stunning atmosphere you can find.
Watch as cowboys and cowgirls of all ages saddle up and ride bucking broncos and bulls during one of the region's heart racing rodeos. Spring and summer signal rodeo season in Gallup, bringing with it some of the region's most popular — and most exciting — annual events. Hosted in the 5,000-capacity Red Rock Park Arena with the stunning crimson cliffs of Red Rock Park serving as the backdrop, Gallup's signature rodeos are a thrilling, family-friendly, and budget-friendly experience in New Mexico.
Annual competitions include the Red Rock Classic USTRC Team Roping qualifier in early June, followed by the Gallup Lions Club Youth and Open Show Rodeo — two nights of wooly- and steer-riding competition featuring the youngest of rodeo's rising stars. The nation's top junior and high school rodeo athletes compete against one another in eight different events — barrel racing, pole bending, breakaway roping, tie-down roping, team roping, and steer wrestling — during the Best of the Best Rodeo in late June. In early July, Gallup hosts the top open bullriding competition in the southwest, Wildthing Championship Bullriding, featuring two days of intense competition followed by a grand fireworks display.
