GallupARTS presents - Gallup New Deal Art Virtual Museum Grand Opening

Celebrate the launch of the Gallup New Deal Art Virtual Museum showcasing Gallup's collection of 1930/40s New Deal art with a full day of tours, talks, crafts, music, and free family activities.

The Gallup New Deal Art Virtual Museum is an innovative and interactive website bringing together Gallup's dispersed 120+ object collection of New Deal art into one fully publicly accessible digital venue and offering multiple modes of exploration, including expertly curated thematic exhibits, creative and artistic responses, and historical context. To celebrate the "grand opening" of the Virtual Museum, the public is invited to a day-long event featuring:

- A New Deal throw-back tea party serving up locally made baked goods and flavored teas.
- Rare weekend access to view the 1939 artwork decorating the walls of the historic McKinley County Courthouse and guided tours including a close look at the 2,000-square foot mural covering the walls of the historic McKinley County Courthouse.
- A talk by Carmella Padilla and Luis Tapia on the craftsmanship of New Deal era furniture and a hands-on craft inspired by Nuevo Mexicano decorative arts designs.
- A performance by acclaimed jazz trumpeter Delbert Anderson honoring "sounds of place."
