Gallup Summer Indian Dances & Art Market

Experience authentic traditional dances from a variety of New Mexican area tribes, featuring traditional drum, rattle, and flute instruments along with explanations regarding the cultural traditions that surround these dances.

The Gallup Summer Indian Dances and Art Market is a popular annual event that provides visitors the rare chance to not just watch the nightly dances, but often join in as well. After the dancing, you can meet the dancers and musicians and take photos with them – photos are encouraged! You can also shop for Native American art and jewelry with local Native artist vendors set up in the area north of the dance grounds. Don't forget to buy some fry bread or a snow cone with food vendors onsite too.

The program kicks off June 3, 2025 and runs every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday throughout the summer until August 6, 2025. The different weekly themes include storytelling dances, celebration of life dances, weather-related dances, and more.

Courthouse Square

Overlooking Courthouse Square, the historic McKinley County Courthouse was designed and built in 1938 by the architectural firm of Trost and Trost of El Paso, Texas, in the ‘picturesque' Spanish Pueblo Revival Style with typical stepped-back Pueblo massing. The McKinley County Courthouse, itself a New Deal art project, houses 19 pieces of New Deal art, and murals, tile work, lamps, and furniture by New Deal artists and crafts workers grace the interior of the courthouse.
