Rich in cultural architecture, Sky City Cultural Center & Haak’u Museum serve as the reception center and museum for visitors to the Pueblo of Acoma and is the gateway to Acoma Sky City. Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico is more than just a tourist destination; it is part of New Mexico's cultural heritage. Acoma Pueblo is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in North America and was the 28th Historic Site designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Acoma history is also the story of the Southwest, from its initial role as the home to the Ancient Puebloan people to the thirteenth century founding of the Pueblo, which is still alive and well as a community and touchstone for Native Americans in the area and nationwide.

Acoma Sky City
Acoma Pueblo, also known as Sky City, is built atop a sheer-walled 367 foot sandstone bluff overlooking a valley studded with sacred, towering monoliths. Since 1150 A.D. Acoma Pueblo has earned the reputation as the oldest continuously inhabited community in North America. The mesa-top settlement is known worldwide for its unique art and rich culture.
Visit Sky City and discover the centuries old history of New Mexico’s southwest Indians. Acoma Pueblo is a place where Native people carry on the customary traditions of their ancestors through Native American pottery making and tribal celebrations. Educational tours and cultural exhibits are designed to generate a broader and deeper understanding of the Acoma People.
Getting There
From Gallup, NM: Travel East on I-40 for approximately 75 minutes. Take Exit 102; keep right after exiting and follow the signage to Acomita/Rest Area. Continue to the roundabout and exit at the second right. At the Stop sign at bottom of the small hill, turn right and follow the signage to Sky City Cultural Center/Haak'u Museum. You will travel through the small village of Acomita, for approximately 5 miles then turn left and follow the signs to Sky City Cultural Center/Haak'u Museum. The drive is approximately 15 miles from I-40.
